Happy Birthday, Thomas Carlton McCloud, Jr.

(Pictured here with Thomas Carlton McCloud, Sr.)

I thought about posting 27 reasons why I love my sweet husband, or 27 reasons why I'm glad he was born 27 years ago today.

But let's face it - in the blog world, that's been done.

So instead, I'll tell you the truth about what happened today, what it is often like to fight for God's kingdom in RioSanJuan. The highest of highs and the lowest of lows, with barely a chance to breathe in between.

We had a fantastic birthday celebration at a local beach cabana, complete with good food, good books, and new friends.

We came home to find someone had broken into our house, and stolen something of great sentimental and monetary value. The thief was one of our boys, the one we are closest to.

We have the item back, though we never expected to see it again. Nevertheless, we are reeling and our hearts are broken.

I guess Satan doesn't rest on birthdays, but praise God, neither does our Father.

TJ,

It seems silly to wish you a "happy birthday" now. What a frustrating, awful thing. Ugh.

Think on this:

I think of your birthday as the first of my friends' birthdays when we're all turning new ages. So when you make it to 27 and it seems like your life is together, meaningful, and really coming into its own, I feel like I'll make it to 27 too. You're a true inspiration, and I celebrate you today!

Happy belated birthday TJ. :) I am reminded of your 26th birthday, spent with the 5 of us at that Italian restaurant in Antigua with lights and the fountain and that delicious strawberry cake Holly got. I am reminded of what Guatemalans would always celebrate: That you are healthy and alive for another full and fruitful year. Praise God!

I am sorry to hear about the house breakin, your boys are in my prayers.

love, Blair

Happy birthday old man!

You know, the fact that he returned the stolen item in it's self is a testament to how God is working through ya'll. It is when God is getting the upper hand that Satan works his hardest to grab hold and pulls the other direction. Praise God for pulling harder!!!

May He give you the strength to persevere and stay His coarse.

We love ya'll!

amen and amen to the above said comments. i cannot add anything new that has not already been said. so i'll echo the comments above by saying i love you both so dearly, and am continuing to pray for the boys that God is changing through you.

Well, happy birthday to TJ anyway and I'm so sorry to hear about the incident..and the disappointment you feel. That's no fun. I'm praying for God to give you wisdom to know what steps to take from here with the boys...that one in particular, as his behavior is another reminder of why your influence is especially needed. We love you guys!

it's nice to picture your beach and cabana and heart-wrenching to picture the one who wronged you. praise God for your example of grace.
